Guest Comment:
Hotel located near the Vatican, which was convenient, but otherwise most of Romes famous sites were located the other side of the river Tiber. Rooms rather small, nicely appointed, no tea or coffee making facilities, but otherwise OK. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Top Tip:
Do not eat at restaurants near tourist attractions. There are some excellent "back street" restaurants where "Mamma" or "Pappa" does some terrific cooking. Eat like the Italians, from 8 pm onwards. Before that time you are likely to be the only diners, in a very quiet, dull restaurant. Fridays and Saturdays you need to book. After 8.30 pm, in the good restaurants, its a wonderful, bubbling atmosphere. Arrive without a booking after 8.30 pm and you will have to wait. We counted 14 people queuing at one stage. Ragna D'Oro, Via Sella, Rome was especially good. No menu. They ask you what style of meal you would like and it just flows after that. Pay cash, its cheaper.
